Can I Use Your Photos?

People often ask me if they can use one of my photos. I’m always glad when people ask me this question, rather than just pulling one of my photos off the web and using it without attribution. It shows a great deal of respect for me and the work that I do, and when I see this I always try to find a way to say yes to the person asking.

  • If you want to use one of my photos to write about a project I’m working on, the chances are that I would be super happy to get you a photo that you can use.

  • If you want to use one of my photos for your personal blog, please contact me about it, and chances are, I’ll be happy to give you permission.

  • If you have a business, and you want to use one of my photos, contact me, and, typically, the photo can be used for a small fee.

There are a few photos in my catalog that are not available for reprints but mostly, I’m happy to let people use photos, with attribution, for free or for a small fee. I’ve even worked out trades with people in exchange for photos.

The key is just to ask me.
